Got these indoor plants. Large aluminum cylinder( volume is 41,600 cubic inches) with a potted tree and some smaller potted plants. Currently it is just filled with foam to take up volume. Thinking about emptying it, sealing the interior with some black pool liner I have and then filling the entire thing with soil and replanting the current tree and smaller plants.

Bad idea? Good idea?

What kind of soil/potting soil mix would be best if I do switch it over.

Thanks!

Leave them separated. It will be too much soil that retains too much moisture and possibly cause root rot.

For those curious the 41600 ci is a 180 gal/680L pot.

That much soil and no drainage… you’re gonna have a bad time.

I agree with others here—leave it as it is. Your current setup is my preferred setup! Makes it easy to care for the individual plants without disturbing the rest (especially if one gets a pest or struggles…just pop it out and replace it), but once the filler plants fill in it will look like one big pot.
