It’s a bit flooded right now temporarily. These two Oregon white oaks have grown up from tiny volunteer seedlings. It’s been 15 years of keeping invasives from strangling them.

I think they are too close together and one should come out? But can’t bring myself to do it. Does anyone have advice or opinions here on Reddit?

    Leave them. I have two very old oaks growing that close. Face on you’d never know they are 2 separate trees. Is it ideal? Maybe not. Is it natural and unique and cool? Definitely.

    If they’re not at risk of damaging anything in the future, just let them ride.

    Honestly they’ve got a lot of character 😂If the structure looks sound, I’d personally hate to remove one. But if there’s splitting, included bark, or a noticeable lean… that’s a different story.
