A group of garden centres are celebrating of one of spring’s brightest blooms.

Yorkshire Garden Centres, which has sites in York and Scarborough, has launched its Primrose Celebration, running until March 14.

The celebration features almost 100 varieties of primroses in a wide range of colours.

Marc Salama, commercial plant manager at Yorkshire Garden Centres, said: “Primroses are the first true sign of spring and a welcome reminder that it’s time to bring colour back into our gardens after a long, cold winter.

“They’re much tougher than they look, too. Primroses cope well with sudden cold snaps, unlike many other early flowers, making them a reliable choice for spring planting.

“As perennial plants, they’ll return year after year when planted in the right spot.

“With such a wide range of shades available, there’s a primrose to suit every garden.

“They’re easy to grow, full of colour and dependable – we love them.”
