Abida Brawley, lovingly known as Abi, passed away peacefully at home on 14 February 2026.
Born in Bombay, India, on 18 October 1941, she was the cherished daughter of the late Rahim Baksh and Hajira Begum. From the very beginning, Abi lived life on her own terms. She was spirited, independent, and entirely unforgettable; a woman who left a lasting impression wherever she went.
Abida lived across several countries and experienced a life rich in travel, culture and adventure. In later years, she made her home in Nashville, Tennessee, where she enjoyed being close to her sister and welcoming family and friends with her characteristic warmth and generosity.
She loved to read, rarely missed a tennis match, and took great pleasure in cooking for those she cared about. Nothing meant more to her than time spent with her children and grandchildren.
Abi was a formidable presence, vibrant, strong-willed and deeply loved. She built friendships that stretched across continents and generations. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by her family and the many friends whose lives she touched.
In accordance with her wishes, a private ceremony will be held at Harpeth Hill Memory Gardens on 26 February 2026.
