CARROLL GARDENS — A SNOW-LADEN TREE BRANCH crashed onto parked cars in Carroll Gardens after Winter Storm Hernando dumped over a foot of heavy, wet snow, compounding cleanup efforts in Brooklyn on Monday.
While streets in Downtown Brooklyn were largely cleared, neighborhood blocks remained buried under thick accumulation. The weight of the snow snapped a large branch, which fell across multiple vehicles, according to a video obtained by PIX11.
Some cars appeared to sustain limited damage from smaller limbs, though at least one was struck by a heavier section. In addition to the fallen tree branch, plows created snowbanks roughly three-and-a-half feet high along the curb, requiring car owners to dig out extensively before they can move their vehicles.
The dense, packed snow — common in late-winter storms — poses added challenges for residents in outer-borough, tree-lined neighborhoods, where side streets and sidewalks typically take longer to clear than commercial corridors.
