Garden centre remains closed for another week after fire

A garden centre damaged by a fire has pushed its reopening date back further.

Aylsham Garden Centre suffered damage from the blaze, which took place more than a week ago, and has remained closed since.

The blaze knocked out the power for the business, leaving it without electricity.

In a statement on Monday night, a spokesman for the garden centre said: “Unfortunately, we are still not able to open the garden centre.

“Sadly, we are going to be closed for at least another seven days.

“While thankfully the fire was not too serious, it has caused an awful lot of smoke and soot damage throughout the centre.”

They added that the centre had been told by insurers that they could not reopen until it had undergone a professional clean.
