A knuckle duster and white powder were also recovered from the vehicle
A car stolen in Cannock was then spotted in Meir
A man was found hiding in a garden in Stoke-on-Trent after doing a runner from a stolen car. Officers in an unmarked car spotted the white Ford Puma, in Meir View, Meir, which had been taken from Cannock earlier in the day.
They say the driver then fled the scene at around 4.30pm last Monday (February 16). Police dog Maddie then tracked the suspect down to a garden. A knuckle duster and white powder were also recovered from the vehicle.
A 24-year-old man, from the Stoke-on-Trent area, has since been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a drug of class A (cocaine), possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, driving whilst disqualified, driving on a road without third-party insurance and theft of a motor vehicle. He has been released on bail while our enquiries continue.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Just before 3.45pm on Monday 16 February, we received a report that a car had been stolen from an address in Cannock. Then, at around 4.30pm, officers spotted the vehicle on Meir View, Meir.
“When it stopped, a man got out of the car and left the scene. He was found by a police dog and handler in a garden a short time later.”
