It’s no secret some people might have troublesome neighbours to deal with as some could cause issues with gardens. One woman recently shared the awful things she’s currently dealing and with how one person on her road drives.

She opened up about the matter on Reddit where she posted a snap of the alleged damage caused to the garden by the neighbour and their car. People are also shocked at the matter and can’t believe anyone would do such a thing. In fact, many labelled them a “neighbour from hell” for their selfish antics.

Alongside a picture of the garden, the woman said: “Neighbour has started doing this completely unnecessary drive across the grass. It’s council grass, but we all use it.

“Kids play on it in the summer, another neighbour plays fetch with his dog, people sit on it in the sun and this dude who has lived there for years has suddenly in the last week or so decided he’s going to drive on it and muck up the grass.

“He’s never had a problem using the road like a normal person before. You can’t talk to him, he’s one of those super grumpy hermit types who avoids everybody (I did eventually catch him outside. It’s just incredibly odd and so selfish).”

Since the post was initially published, she shared a number of updates. At first, she explained the incident was reported to the local council and she even sent an email to the local councillor.

She also decided to investigate by looking at Google street view. She claimed he’s had his concrete ramp since at least 2009.

The woman also noted the councillor is working out which is the correct council department to report the grass damage to. “The highways department said it’s not them, it’s the green spaces department,” she added.

“I await a reply from the green spaces department. I bet it’s not them either. [The] councillor has asked me to get video of him doing it too. Since a couple of people have asked, I’ll update if anything interesting happens.”

In a further update, she added: “He went out again today. Unbelievably my cameras, which were on, failed to catch him driving on the grass. I’m super annoyed about that.

“But I’d just come home when I saw him arrive so I went and caught him before he could get inside, and asked why he was driving on the grass. His answer was ‘so I can get in my drive’.

“There were no cars parked near his drive, he could have easily got in from the road. He then asked why I wasn’t asking ‘all the other cars on the grass’.

“It’s rare other cars drive on the grass, and they certainly don’t drive on it repeatedly to cause damage. So, I’m going to report him for anything and everything, to everyone.

“If there was a reasonable reason for it I’d have been happy if he just stopped driving on the grass, but apparently he’s literally just a really horrible and entitled old man. And I’m revising my previous estimate of in his 70s upwards, I think he’s in his 80s. He’s properly old.”

The post has gone viral since it was shared, with thousands of people responding with their thoughts. It’s clear to have stirred up a pretty big debate.

One person replied: “I’m observing this in my personal and professional life more and more by the week. Nothing surprises me anymore about people’s behaviour.”

Another added: “Similar issue in my street. There are around 10 to 15 parking spaces, but one homeowner drives onto the grass to park outside her house (leaving her car on the grass). I’d love to know if anything can be done.”

A third said: “Unhinged.” Meanwhile, a fourth commented: “Such a lovely bit of grass as well! What an a**.”

One person also highlighted his age though, writing: “If he’s older, could be he’s struggling with turning into his drive due to eyesight or cognitive issues? In which case, he’s a danger to more than the grass. Definitely worth trying to figure it out and maybe approach it as though he might need help first, and then see how he behaves.”

In a final update however, the woman admitted they did seem to reach some sort of conclusion. She thinks challenging him may have worked, as he has stopped driving on the grass for now.

She also added he can easily get into his drive from the road. Hopefully, brighter days are ahead for the residents of the street.
