I also have the same dilemma. I’m trying to propagate from cuttings and since I’m gonna prune, might as well try to grow new trees. Good luck.

These trees have to be pruned with an open center, like an upside down umbrella.

You’ll want to remove inner branches into a vase shape with branches growing outward and not inward. I also find it helpful to trim to height where I can reach the top. I failed to do this until I knew better. Cut back 75% of my tree one year and it grew in amazingly. Good luck.
