The funds were collected during a blind pairs charity event held last December and were presented to the Bicester Fire and Rescue service by the Bicester and District Darts Association.

The money will support plans for a reflective garden behind the station, giving firefighters a space to unwind after emergencies.

A spokesperson for the Bicester and District Darts Association said: “The money was raised to go towards building a garden behind Bicester Fire Station for the firefighters to sit and reflect after coming off incidents.”

The event was hosted by The Exservicemens Club, with funds raised through entry fees, a raffle, and donations.

Clive Cooper and Kevin Buxey from the Darts Association presented the cheque.

The association also raised £800 for the Hummingbird Centre, a cancer support charity in Launton.
