Welcome to my backyard! Step inside my personal garden here in Vero Beach, Florida (Zone 10a), where I’ll take you on a private tour through the tropical oasis I’ve built over the years. This is not just any backyard—it’s a living collection of my favorite tried-and-true Florida plants that I’ve tested, loved, and trusted throughout my 25+ years as a landscape designer.

You’ll discover a variety of tough, reliable plants that thrive in our subtropical climate while adding beauty, texture, and year-round color. From bold tropical foliage to resilient flowering accents, each plant here tells a story of why it deserves a spot in Florida landscapes.

Walking through this suburban backyard will feel like stepping into your own botanical garden getaway—right at home. My hope is that this tour gives you inspiration, ideas, and confidence to transform your outdoor spaces with plants that not only survive, but thrive.

🌺 Hit subscribe and join me for this garden walk-through—you’ll leave with both inspiration and practical tips for creating your own tropical paradise!

  1. I look back at your first video and I love how your space has evolved! You and Bryce are truly inspiring to all of us. The video Bruce did on designing blew me away – so proud of you both!!

  2. Hi! I love your channel and all the great ideas you give. Me and my neighbors stream some of your videos on the weekends, I had a quick question. We have a very well landscape backyard due to watching your channel and was wondering what you do to keep the black snakes at bay which is a negative of having a lot of plantings? Steve

  3. Hi Jennifer….we LOVE your TALENT, PASSION and GIFT for tropical gardens!! When can we order your book….can't wait?????????

  4. How often do you fertilize and do you use granular or liquid? My crotons looks like they are struggling a bit with the exception of my dreadlock crotons. Those are doing the best.

  5. Jennifer, your garden just keeps getting better and better! You MAY (keyword) be able to grow a lipstick palm since you have a little microclimate IF you grow it directly in water, such as one of your ponds. The water acts as an insulator. Again.. MAY. You're really pushing it there. I'd purchase a small one so I didn't waste too much money and give it a shot. If it dies in a cooler winter then you didn't break the bank on it. That's how many people grow them though that are on the zone borderline. Just a suggestion.. Keep up the great work

  6. I’m new to Florida and can’t get nothing to grow in my yard. Someone told me I would need to have trucks of soil brought in, to plant in because nothing accept weeds grows in this sand. Did you just have soil brought in or how are you getting things to grow?

  7. This garden is amazing, so rich and layered and well thought out. I am, usually, not a fan of palms. But you have me rethinking my snarky attitude. Job well done lady!

  8. Hello! Are you comfortable designing front of home landscapes in the Ponte Vedra area? We get frost. I’m looking for LOW MAINTENANCE perennials like your style. I want to switch to more tropical St Augustine style. Currently more country cottage.

  9. Love your garden I have moved from Hialeah down south to Spring Hill FL. Up here we get much colder weather so lot of the plants 🪴 I had just won't survive up here,my daughter is in Davie and I enjoy her garden as well

  10. So glad I found you, 3 years now in Jax from Sebring, I'm still organizing what will survive winters here, but I too love that jungle vibe in my small 1946 bungalow yard…the palms, the bananas have really set the stage and give that privacy wow, especially the banana rings. My Australian tree ferns are 10-12 ft now and stunning. Front and back are completely mulched and really solved the standing water issues, no grass mowing here…I'm 76 and live alone, maintenance can be a struggle, but what beautiful places to lounge with a cup of tea…in the shade…thanks for the tour!

  11. Love the tropical look…would you do a video for those of us who live a bit north of you zone 9 and beachside so more salt and wind tolerant?
Same tropical look but more cold and salt tolerant.
