Family-friendly fun has returned this Adelaide Fringe season, with The Garden of Unearthly Delights already open and blooming, once again transforming Rundle Park/Kadlitpina into a vibrant playground of performances, rides and hands-on experiences for all ages.
Running to 22 March, the six-week program features more than 115 shows, solidifying The Garden’s place as one of Australia’s longest-running independent performing arts events and a major drawcard for families looking to immerse themselves in the Fringe atmosphere.
Among the standout additions this year is The Sumo Show Hirakuza, appearing outside Osaka for the first time and landing exclusively in Adelaide. The theatrical experience blends ancient sumo traditions with comedy and high-energy performance, as former professional wrestlers take audiences behind the scenes of the sport with demonstrations, storytelling and interactive moments — including the chance for brave participants to step into the ring.

The Luck Child, created by David Collins of The Upside Down Show and The Umbilical Brothers, will also captivate younger audiences, with Collins embodying 16 different characters across a whimsical theatrical journey filled with kings, wizards and circus creatures.
Science meets spectacle with the return of That Science Gang, bringing two new shows to Adelaide. The Alphabet of Awesome Science promises an hour of playful experiments inspired by fascinating words, while Splish Splash Science! puts water at centre stage in a series of high-energy demonstrations designed to have audiences laughing, learning and ducking for cover.
Magic lovers can step into the eccentric world of Fritz in The Fritz Magic(ish) Show, a chaotic and charming adventure led by Emilie Bloom, while Grossed Out Game Show invites audience participation in a slime-filled battle of absurd challenges.
Returning favourites include Amazing Drumming Monkeys – Dance Party, Trash Test Dummies for a final season, and beloved entertainer Peter Combe with his catalogue of quirky songs. Hands-on creativity continues with Upsound Instruments – Make & Play Workshop, where kids craft their own instruments from upcycled materials.
Beyond the stages, The Garden’s carnival atmosphere has once again come alive with rides and attractions including The Big Wheel, Dodgems and Tea Cups, joined by the new Slingshot ride for thrill seekers.
Additional highlights include Camp Culture, a circus experience led by Dale Woodbridge Brown celebrating confidence and self-expression, Monski Mouse’s Baby Cabaret Deluxe, and The Pinky Pie Party – Part 2, a Fringe show created by kids for kids and hosted by nine-year-old DJ Alba Lorca.
Co-Director Michelle Buxton says the 2026 lineup is designed to bring families together. “We have fantastic family-friendly shows coming to The Garden in 2026. These performers are masters at ensuring the entertainment caters for everyone from children right through to adults, making them a perfect choice for the whole family,” she says, adding that last year’s success helped build momentum. “In 2025, The Garden had over 70 5-star reviews, strengthening its global reputation of delivering the very best entertainment in Australia. We can’t wait to share with audiences what we have curated for our 2026 program and welcome families from all corners to enjoy the joy of The Garden.”
