Moved from the northeast about 6 months ago and saw this in our yard today….Thinking its racoon, but the size and sheer volume of it would make me think black bear if we where still back in the northeast. WTF is is pooping in our backyard?

Looks like raccoon but yeah that’s a lot.
Maybe fox or coyote. I’ve really never heard of black bears in Austin area.

Looks kinda like raccoon, that spot could be a pack’s designated shitting spot.

Def raccoon. I had the same thing happen and set up cameras. You’ll want to remove it all. They like to come back to the same spot, kinda mark their territory.

Once I cleaned and removed all of it they stopped shitting in that spot thankfully

That’s a raccoon. They are related to bears and have similar diets.

After googling right now, it turns out raccoons have communal “latrines” so maybe that’s what you are seeing

Bask in the glory of the raccoon latrine. Don’t clean it up — it’s considered disrespectful in raccoon culture.

That also looks a lot like Chinaberry aka Tree of Heaven berries in their scat. The berries ferment on the trees and are intoxicating to animals. Which would explain why it’s so much! They are invasive species, if you have them around definitely cut those things down.
