Surrey’s secret lavender garden has announced it will host a special Easter event for families to enjoy this spring.
Mayfield Lavender invites young explorers to join Bluebell, the bunny with the golden ears, for Easter and springtime magic from March 21.
Mayfield’s Secret Lavender Garden, situated alongside the year-round Glasshouse Café and Gift and Plant Shop in Epsom, will spring into life with beautiful floral displays and a fun, immersive activity trail featuring enchanting characters, memory-making photo opportunities, and other seasonal surprises to discover along the way.
Named Bluebell in Lavenderland, the event will run until the Early Bank Holiday Monday on May 4.
Children will help Bluebell the Bunny and her friends search for the missing golden eggs hidden by Twizzle the Fairy.
Adventurers will have the opportunity to explore the Secret Lavender Garden using their trail map, which leads them to 17 special locations.
At every stop, Bluebell and her guests help different characters, from Bramble the Hedgehog, Pip and Nutty the squirrels and Willow the Owl to flamingos, parrots and Mayfield’s very own Old English Sheepdog Joey.
Each act of kindness reveals a letter that makes Bluebell’s ears and fluffy tail turn golden and shimmer with magic.
A mini chocolate bunny awaits those who complete the trail.
Beginning at Mayfield’s iconic red telephone box, children will wind through Lavender Straits, Provence and Tuscany and visit special spots such as The Lookout, Sleepy Hollow, The Pavilion and The Wedding Aisle – where they can write spring wishes on ribbons to tie to the ‘chapel.’
The route ends by the charming heart-shaped bench, ideal for the perfect family photoshoot.
Lorna Maye, owner of Mayfield Lavender, said: “We were blown away by the success of our inaugural Secret Lavender Garden event, Malice in Lavenderland at Halloween, and can’t wait to bring the same sense of spirit and fun with an Easter and spring twist.
“Bluebell’s story is all about simple acts of kindness, and these more intimate seasonal experiences are designed to give families warm, memorable moments, without the high price tag. We expect tickets to sell quickly, so we’d encourage visitors to book early.”
To enhance the adventure even further, activity packs can also be purchased (available to buy online or in the shop for £6.95).
Bluebell’s Easter Activity Pack is ideal for children who love keepsakes and surprises.
It includes seven limited edition, beautifully illustrated character collectors’ cards featuring Bluebell and her friends (with fun animal facts on the reverse), a mini chocolate bunny, lavender seeds to plant at home, and a pocket-sized rabbit companion, plus a lovely activity bag to house all the items.
A small number of packs will contain a golden ticket, with one lucky finder each week winning a giant golden chocolate bunny.
Bluebell’s Spring Watch Spotter’s Guide takes young nature-lovers for a walk on the wild side, inviting them to slow down, observe, and become wildlife and plant life detectives.
The pack includes identification cards and tick sheets covering early signs of spring, including blossom and flowers, birds, and minibeasts, alongside wildflower seeds, a chocolate treat, and a miniature pocket animal.
After all the outdoor excitement, visitors can relax inside the beautiful Glasshouse Café and enjoy a range of delicious seasonal treats, food and drinks.
