MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) – The Lady Kats dominated from start-to-finish in the postseason victory.

Rankin did come into this game with a numbers disadvantage. The Lady Devils had just six players suited up due to illness. The roster dwindled throughout the game, losing Kailynn Prewit to injury and Bella Escaieda to foul trouble. The team was left with just four players on the court in the fourth quarter.

The Garden City offense took advantage of their shorthanded opponents. The Lady Kats totaled eight three-point shots on the night. Leading scorer Karly Baker accounted for four of them in her 23-point total.

After the game, Baker emphasized how this team’s connection can take them on a deep playoff run.

Baker said, “I feel like we can go all the way. We’ve been practicing a lot, and we’ve been together since kindergarten, so this is our last chance to really go all the way.”

Garden City improves to 27-6 with the win. As for Rankin, the Lady Devils end their season at 11-19.

The Lady Kats’ focus now turns to the Eula Lady Pirates. They will face off in the Class 1A-DI regional semifinal on Feb. 23 in Colorado City.
