The Lady Bearkats advance to the Regional Semifinals for the third-straight season and will face Eula in a rematch of 2025.

MIDLAND, Texas — Garden City girl’s basketball advances to the Class 1A Division I Regional Semifinals with a commanding 60-15 victory over Rankin Friday night at Midland Christian’s McGraw Events Center.

It’s the Lady Bearkats third-straight trip to the Regional Semifinals, while the lady Red Devils end the season as Bi-District champions with an 11-19 record.

Garden City took a comfortable 37-5 lead into halftime. Karly Baker dropped a game-high 23 points to lead the Lady Bearkats, while Keegan Batla had 14 points and Kaylee Garcia added 12 points.

Rankin made the opening basket on a Bella Escajeda layup, but that was its only lead of the game. The Lady Red Devils had only one substitute off the bench before the tip and to make matters worse, Kailynn Prewit left the game with a right leg injury in the first quarter. Rankin was down to five total players and even finished the game with four on the floor as Escajeda fouled out in the third quarter.

Garden City will face Eula in the Regional Semifinals in back-to-back seasons. The Lady Pirates defeated the Lady Bearkats 54-44 before advancing all the way to the state championship and falling to Broaddus. The game will either be held on Monday, Feb. 23 or Tuesday, Feb. 24 with time and location TBA as well.
