Maples are looking for a water source, much like Weeping Willows, and no I don't think a retainer wall would help. We know that they'll tear up brick! I wanted to get so much done outside but we're doing a master bath remodel that's taking me FOREVER!! I thought losing all this weight would help with the pain or helping me get around. I can't even get up off the floor from painting trim🤦🤦🤦
The Roots. Probably till the entire near house area, could be bad for foundation also. The roots are too strong for a retaining wall. Maples are infamous.
Ornamental trees are fine near the home but 60 footers belong far away from the foundation of a home. Carolina Allspice sounds pretty. Correction, just googled it and that is a gorgeous shrub!

I was just talking to my brother this morning and told him I wish I could plant a maple. I just dont have the space to plant one.
