
The Hamilton County Master Gardeners Association presents a two-part seminar on how to take care of trees and shrubs. The first session is scheduled for March 21 with the second a week later on March 28. Both are open to the public.
The first session begins March 21 at 8:50 a.m. and runs to 3 p.m. (doors open at 8) Pre-registration is required. The cost for Part I is $65 and the cost for attending both is only $10 more. Part II is only open to the first 100 registrants. Part I takes place at the IMMI Conference Center, 18880 East St. in Westfield. Part II begins at 9 (doors open at 8:30) at Cool Creek Park Nature Center, 2000 E. 151st St. in Carmel.
Part I attendees get five hours of approved Master Gardener education. Speakers and leaders include Eva Monheim (the keynote speaker who will talk about shrubs and hedges and creating a woodland garden. Other speakers include Jud Scott, Carrie Tauscher and Amanda Smith.
Part II has three hours of approved Master Gardener education and Tauscher will lead an hour of indoor instruction on pruning trees and shrubs. Hours two and three will be spent outdoors learning tree IDs, how to remove invasive species, planting and other skillsets.
