The plant originally died from root rot but this piece is pretty firm. I've had it in moss that sits on top of leca for almost two months and no growth at all. The humidity is usually ~60%

Is there a better way to get it to root?

Humidity and warmth will help . I always have success with sphagnum moss and a seedling mat. Maybe find a cloche dome or transfer the corm to just sphagnum in a cup or baggie until it shows some growth and strong roots. As long as I had a humidity dome my corms would sprout. They are tropical so replicating that environment as much as possible helps.
