Think your container soil is ready for spring planting? Think again! If you just “top off” your pots with a little new soil, you might be setting your garden up for failure.

In this video, I’m digging up my entire container garden to show you the hidden dangers lurking beneath the surface. From heavily compacted soil that suffocates your roots to “Zombie Roots”—live roots from old plants that can steal nutrients or grow into “odd” plants you didn’t bargain for!

In this video, we cover:

Why you MUST “fluff” your soil to aerate the root zone.

How to identify live vs. dead roots (The thumbnail secret!).

Why digging to the bottom of the pot is the only way to ensure success.

Preparing your containers for a massive spring harvest.

Don’t let compacted dirt ruin your hard work. Let’s get our hands dirty and fix it NOW before planting season starts!

Question for you: Have you ever dug up a pot and found a 'Zombie Root' still growing? Let me know in the comments! 👇🏽

  2. 7:38 Newbie question- why not leave the green onions in and keep cutting the tops to eat and let the rest continue to grow?

  3. How fortuitous that I clicked on Ms. Pam’s Scaredy Cat Gardening video. Reinforced what I did today. I just did some cleanup in my containers and flower beds today. It was a beautiful 65 degree day and loved getting out there to get the weeds out and digging in the soil and turning it over. I did as Ms. Pam instructed and didn’t do everything at once. Need to add soil revitalizers next. Need to get my seedlings started indoors under my new grow lights so they will be ready to plant. Thanks for the timely video. Thank you Ms. Pam 🥰🙏🪴🪏👩‍🌾🥰
