The Door County Master Gardeners will provide information on pollinators and pruning during two free programs that are part of the organization’s winter education series.
First, an Annuals for Pollinators presentation is set for Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 6:30 pm in the Collins Learning Center at Crossroads at Big Creek, 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay.
Kori Zawojski, co-owner of Sunnypoint Gardens with her husband, Tony, will discuss the newest plant varieties and colors, as well as pollinator-friendly annuals. Attendees will learn learn how today’s annuals are bred for beauty, performance and purpose and discover easy ways to attract bees, butterflies and other beneficial visitors to their containers and garden beds.
Next, the Door County Master Gardeners will present Pruning: Knowledge, Guts and Glory, A Horticultural Success Story on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 10 am to 12 pm at Crossroads at Big Creek.
Jason Feldman, owner and lead designer at Jason Feldman Landscapes, will explain the what, when, how and why of pruning, using his 30 years of experience in horticulture to teach techniques for year-long garden success.
Presenters for the Master Gardeners’ winter education series come from all over the Midwest and are experts in their specific field of horticulture. Programs are suitable for gardeners of all levels, presenting research-based gardening techniques in alignment with the education requirements of the University of Wisconsin-Wisconsin Extension Master Gardener program.
