Pooling in corner of patio. One day we’ll pay to install a French drain. But what would be the best cheapest DIY solution for now? Do I simply dig a hole down for the water to go, or a dry well?

You gotta dig a trench lower than that point and fill with gravel and filter cloth, preferably with 3″ pvc drain pipe with holes on the bottom.

And you aren’t allowed to divert to neighbours house

If you cant find existing drains to tie into, like the house perimeter drain, then you need to dig a massive gravel pit somewhere for it to disperse

    Put aside a couple weekends

French and drywell depend on soil consistency and type. Is it a sand loam, clay, or? Its just like digging perc holes for a septic site eval. A drywell in clay wont do crap. Ive done one 2x20x5 and it filled up and overflowed in 30 minutes. Had to dig an overflow to the street ditch. Get an eye on your soil layers and go from there

Just dig a small hole at the lowest point, and put a sump pump in.  Small one like little giant 500GPM

I’d start by removing that wall blocking the water and lowering soil level at that spot. Water has to go somewhere and at this point it doesn’t have where to.

Does this only occur during snow melt or also during heavy rains?

Are those pavers sitting on sand and graded down that 5″? I’d pull the pavers in the corner and add sand to level. May need to add a border. Almost free but some work.

The sump pump idea will work as a quick temporary fix.
