With spring fast approaching, people might turn their attention to their gardens ahead of the warmer spring months. Home Bargains has brought out an affordable “lotus” light that adds “elegance” and brightens up green spaces for £3.
The product looks a lot like pricier alternatives with a similar ‘flower’ design, said to bring both ‘beauty and functionality’ to gardens. The Firefly Metal Lotus Crackle Ball Solar Light, selling at £2.99 each, is now available at Home Bargains, in-store and online.
Customers can choose from four colour options for the petals of this decorative garden lamp – soft pink, yellow, blue or green. Online orders don’t let you specify a colour, so for people with a specific vision, shopping in stores might be the best option to avoid getting a colour you don’t like.
In the online product description, a Home Bargains spokesperson said: “Transform your garden with the Firefly Metal Lotus Crackle Ball Solar Lights. These stunning lights are easy to install – simply place them where you want to add a touch of elegance.
“Powered by a rechargeable battery, they charge during the day and automatically turn on at dusk, casting a warm white LED glow that creates a serene atmosphere. With their beautiful lotus design and crackle ball effect, these solar lights are perfect for brightening up flowerbeds, walkways, or any outdoor space.”

While shoppers could look at other retailers for garden decor, similar lighting options may come with a heftier price tag. For example, a similar product at B&Q costs £20 more, reports the Mirror.
When comparing the two products online, the Home Bargains light looks almost identical to the ValueLights Green Solar Powered Outdoor Lotus Flower Garden Light from B&Q – yet there’s a substantial £20 price difference. Customers cannot purchase these in B&Q stores; instead, they must arrange home delivery.
B&Q describes its version as adding “a pop of colour and charm” to gardens, claiming it’s “the perfect way to brighten up any space and impress your neighbours”. According to the B&Q website: “This little beauty blooms by day (well, in the sun!) then lights up after dark from the cool white LED inside the crackled globe. No wires, no hassle, just pure, eco-friendly glow.”
The artificial ‘plants’ appear quite similar, right down to the layered ‘petals’ and matching “crackled glass” design for the light itself, which projects realistic leaf shadows onto the metal structure. B&Q stocks certain colours unavailable at Home Bargains, including white and black, though they all carry the same £22.99 price tag.

Home Bargains stocks a collection of new solar-powered garden lights that require no installation or complex wiring to brighten up outdoor areas. The complete range can be viewed here.
Meanwhile, shoppers may have also spotted in the garden section that the budget retailer has reintroduced a popular item from 2025 with its hanging hot air balloon lights. Priced at £7.99 for a three-pack, the “charming” Firefly Hot Air Balloon Solar Lights produce “a warm ambience with a stunning flame effect”.
The lights switch on automatically at dusk, having recharged the battery with sunlight during the day. Alternative options are available, such as a £5,99 ‘Balloon Mobile’ or stand-alone options for £3.49 to bulk out displays.
