I’ve had this plant (Ms. Lucy) for a few years now. It started as a small plant with no fenestration and has grown into this beauty. I like to think I know exactly how to best care for her, never overwatering and keeping her with proper sunlight. I water her by placing her in the bathtub and turning on the shower to soak the soil and then leave her there to completely drip dry about once a month. It’s not exact, just when her leaves start drooping from thirst it’s my sign to water her and the next day she’s always perked up. She’s even had a few new leaves recently.

But the last couple of months these spots have started to pop up on some of the leaves. At first I thought they were sunburn spots so I’ve moved her around my house to different spots and it is still happening.

I don’t know what’s happening and I just want to stop it from killing her. Please help me diagnose and treat her. Thank you!

this doesn’t look like thrips damage. the only evidence of thrips I see is possibly the top speck on the bottom leaf in the last photo, but the large spots are not thrip damage. it looks more like damage from either watering, fungal infection, or maybe even cold damage.

have you repotted at all recently? has it been exposed to cold?

thrip damage looks like thinned grey/brown spots, usually the size of a coin or so, and they have black specks of thrip poop in them. if you see any of those then yeah raise the alarms (thrips really aren’t all that bad to deal with imo), but the man damage on these leaves isn’t from thrips

Can someone tell me what exactly gives away that thrills is the issue? Trying to diagnose my similar looking plant
