I’m starting about 60 species this winter. I began back in December with my C(120)s and C(60)s. My plan was to start the C(30)s at the end of January, but we had a couple of snow and ice storms that set me back. Now, I’ve finally got everything out that I need to for now. Which is good, because I’ve run out of space where I place my trays, so now I have a couple of random trays in the mulch in front of my house (my front door is north facing). My wife hasn’t seen those yet, so we’ll see how long they stay there.
I’m using a combination of trays/jugs/flats to hold everything. I did have to go out and water a couple of times in January before the storms hit. I am using a combination of Peat, Perlite, and Vermiculite as well as Pro-Mix HP (I got tired of mixing up my own PPV mix.)
I am both looking forward to, and dreading, what happens after everything starts to germinate. If things go well, then I will have a very busy spring.
Seeds were sourced from Prairie Moon, Wood Thrush Natives, and my own yard.
