The Mattapoisett Free Public Library has relaunched its seed library for the spring season.

The program provides a variety of seeds, including vegetables and native wildflowers. Supplies are limited, so patrons are encouraged to take only what they need, according to a community announcement.

The seed library is free and open to everyone. To participate, patrons need an active SAILS library card. Those without a library card can sign up for one by bringing their ID to the library.

This season’s offerings include seeds for plants such as mizuna, parsnips, beets, tomatoes, kale, radishes, peas and corn. In addition to seeds, the library also offers tools and kits for gardening, including soil testing kits, soil block kits and tillers.

Seeds do not need to be returned, according to the announcement. However, the library encourages patrons to bring in any seeds they’ve collected or no longer need when they come to check out new ones. The goal is to maintain a diverse selection for all community members interested in gardening.

The library is located at 7 Barstow St. in Mattapoisett. For more information, visit the library, email mfpl@sailsinc.org or call 508-758-4171.
