This magnolia tree is around 3m from the back corner of my house and is absolutely stunning but I'm wondering if I should be starting to control it due to it's proximity to the house. There is also a drain inspection chamber just outside the back door about 2.5 metres away.

If so, can anyone give me advice on how to prune it properly? I've read that pollarding isn't a good idea for magnolia.

Thanks!

If you prune a magnolia (other than a light tidy up) it will produce lots of water shoots and you’ll get no flowers. Sadly this tree was planted in the wrong place. But if you leave it then it will get huge. Difficult one.
