So I’ve been taking care of this Thai con for 6 months and I repotted it about 4 months ago from its original baby plant 2” pot. I’ve read that monsteras like to be a bit root bound. This plant is certainly not root bound, but the pot is so tiny that it goes through its water supply within a few days and is very unstable when it gets dry and the water weight can’t anchor it. Am I allowed to put it in a bigger pot even though its roots aren’t bursting out the bottom?

I stg if this ends up in the circlejerk saying this looks like a clown car I’m gonna lose it.

But to answer your question, yeah, you can repot it. 1-2 pot sizes up would work well

Is this the new sedan full of jesters varietal?

yes, you can def put it into a ceramic / terracotta / heavy pot as long as it has drainage and or you water it outside the pot

good news for repotting, if it is drying up that fast and those roots are white, you can go up a size. that’s generally a sign of a very healthy plant when you water it and it dries up fast, esp in plastic pots.

so yes I would go up a size. all fresh soil, and keep it chunky

I think plants “like to be root bound” is a bit of a myth. Some tolerate being root bound better than others. I have my monsteras in large pots and they’re about twice as big as yours. I’m talking 12-14 inch pots that are about 1.5 feet tall. They’re doing well and I just monitor the soil moisture and use a very aroid mix. Plants want to grow if they can, and they like room to grow.

This is refreshing everyone used to be so focused on not being able to see anything but roots before re-potting on this thread. You could absolutely re-pot especially if you are having a hard time with set up fix it. Do you fertilize and does she get a lot of light seems like she could grow a lot faster 3x would not surprise me.
