Love the mosaic tile fabric Tamsyn, pj's for me is a singlet top and pull on pants….aint nothing fancy here for pjs π
Loving the embroidered cotton even more. Have to confess Tamsyn until you stood up and showed the blouse you are currently wearing, I thought it looked very ordinary, but then you stood up and it just looked fabulous….so much so that I am going to look at that pattern now πI would love to see you do it in the embroidered cotton with the scalloped edge on the flounce/frill/peplum…
For your boxy top, have you ever looked at the Merchant and Mills 'Top 64' pattern? have just had the pattern printed and hopefully will make one up in next couple of days…
Look forward to seeing what you create with what fabric and pattern π I think you are way braver than me with your ideas x
So many questionsπ Microphone is a definite good. Tile print will make great pj's./ lounge wear. I could not be bothered with the piping, reminds me of cushion making, but the rest would be good skill building. Embroidered cotton, I would probably consider a skirt or the anthea blouse. I just made one in white Embroidered cotton but had no scalloped edge. Cord I would make bottoms, think of all the jumpers and boots that would match. ( I have never made a jacket, maybe I am just chicken). Spotlight is a 4 hour min round trip 4 me so I just hope something nice is on special. Not made any woven t shirt tops successfully. What about the assembly line Hi cuff Sweater. I am too miserly to pay the $40 for the pattern but its popular. Yes to the Xmas Valli, will look stunning. Can I again recommend the WBM Freedom dress, its plenty floaty for a trip to the post officeππ or anywhere else. And you would not need to buy more fabric. BUT you do you of course. Love love the rose jacquard, I also prefer natural fabs, cant wait to see the Sophia outcome. I made a little top out of jacquard from Butterick 5988 view A and loved it. Also considered Simplicity 9287 but that may need a lighter fabric. Sorry for the book but you asked the questionsπ€£π€£π€£ Love your vlogs. β€
I think you said in one video that you had the Hope dress expansion pack? An idea for the cotton voile, you could trim the skirt to knee length, adding a second ruffle to ankle length to turn it into maxi – which is what I do with most of my patterns when turning them into a maxi and usually only need 3.5 metres for my 5β2β height. The second ruffle from knee to ankle, I use the whole width of fabric, cutting to length twice. The skirt from waist to knee is usually narrower – the whole thing just works when ruffled. You have suggested some lovely patterns, thoughβ€
the popover top by pattern emporium is a good alternative to the vogue pattern if you changed the neckline and shortened the hem. The mic is great!
Hi Tamsyn, so many beautiful fabrics and so many fabulous ideas. I honestly couldnt choose the best option for the patterns. I wondered if when you choose fabrics for your online shop, you could indicate if they are suitable for garment sewing in addition to quilt making? You are quite right, the year is young and there is plenty of time to achieve net negative. I dont have much of a fabric stash as I am more inclined to buy fabric as needed for a sewing project. I am not sure if this is the best option as sometimes I may feel like sewing something different – rather than the next planned item. π Your new sound is fabulous. Happy sewing. πΈ
I'm only up to where you are talking about the corduroy – just make sure the nap is running all the same way…..from memory, corduroy is a bit like velvet, the nap MUST be running the same way. (you probably already know this) We use to use it a lot back in the 60's- 70's
btw, the mic works great, and I would probably make the house pj's as simple as possible lol
and that last pattern, could you adjust the v neck to be a bit lower? and add to the back to make it button up?
Hello Tamsyn, I have such an extensive fabric stash. I'm such a sucker for beautiful fabrics. And yes I too am trying to sew up my gorgeous fabrics to wear. So far this year I have made several garments from my stash and not bought any, but it is only Feburary….guess beautiful fabric is my obsession..lol.
As for a go to woven tee. I have made quite a few of the Scout Tee by Grainline Studio. I'm only short (156cm) so I only need 1 metre of fabric for this pattern. Its an easy and quick make. I realy like this pattern. Your black with white spots and dashes fabric would be perfect. You should have enough for a pair of shorts for a co-ord set.
Love your sewing plans and patterns.
Happy sewing π
I made a pair of Carolyn PJs in a sewing class in Dec 2024 and then immediately made 3 more pairs for my adult daughter…fabulous pattern. Who knew you can make piping (very therapeutic!), and I had never made a collar, or pockets in shorts or a buttonhole…and I ended up not even needing the instructions on the 4th one! Such an elevated look. Used cotton for 3 pairs and for one I used a Dahlia Sewciety Indian block print in a jungle print. I have on my long sewing list to make matching slippers!
P.S. I purchased from you the Nantucket fat quarters recently and love the colour pallette for my home…made quilted bunting with it for my sewing room…such a happy look!
I made the Carolyn pj's for my granddaughter just recently. I plan to make myself a pair also. Good pattern, but I have made an easier collar in the past for the same result. That's the only thing I didn't care for, but I guess I will improve on the technique. I feel the Nadege jacket would be easier than the double breasted one. I have made jackets before, men's also. Just follow your steps I feel you would be fine. π
I would and am making fancy jammies. I too only wear them as lounge wear around the house. Therefore, fancy jammies make me feel good.
Sigh, I knew I shouldnβt watch this one π. Such gorgeous fabrics and plans. I have the strawberry cord in my cart waiting for it to come on sale. Itβs going to be an Aspen dress for winter.
Oh that bubble skirt π©·π©·π©·π©·π©·
The tessuti rae top is a good pattern.
Hi Tamsyn, I love all your fabrics. The fabric that is black or navy blue with white pattern I think would look lovely in the Fleur blouse you are wearing but that isnβt a t-shirt I know and Iβm not sure you would have enough fabric. I love the idea of you making the up market pjβs too and sometimes the best way to learn new techniques. All great ideas π
Fabric for pjs love them xxx. Video is great β€β€β€β€
Vali dress is stunning. Juliette dress is beautiful. Bubble skirt is amazing β€β€β€ do you watch So Sarah Sewed. She makes some beautiful clothes and you may like some of them xxxxxx
I LOVE the Liesl+co Verdun woven tee. I keep making it over and over again!
My go-to pattern for a boxy top is the Maya by Marilla Walker. Good luck with your negative staff goal π
