Got this plant last summer. The larger white sections of the leaves have been browning, I do have it in a south window so it’s getting direct morning sun. New leaf coming in is almost all white on one half.

I’m think about using a silica supplement I’ve never tried that before, or should I put a shear curtain between the plant and the window so the light isn’t as harsh, would that help? Or both?

Hoping for advice to help prevent this new leaf from browning/crumbling up.

When it’s warm enough to put my plants outside I will be putting it between my patio fence and the sun, so it will get lots of indirect light but in the mean time this new leaf is definitely in danger of looking sad pretty soon if I don’t change something that I’m doing.

Also, part is probably that I let the plant dry out too much it’s right by a heater vent so everything dries out really fast. It’s been a depressing winter so I lost a few plants to neglect.

Any advice appreciated i knew this plant was slightly outside of my skill level but it was only $20 when I got it. I’m hoping to get it looking really good this summer!

Putting a curtain between the window and the plant will probably kill it. It already isn’t getting enough light judging by the leginess and the new leaf size. You need to get a grow light.

Browning tips and yellowing leaves is usually something going on with the roots. When was the last time you checked if it’s root bound? If it’s a plastic container and it’s deformed, it’s root bound. Otherwise, you can pull it out and if it looks like ramen, it needs a repot.

You’re also not showing the soil. That matters a lot.
