From the only pic you post, either looks ok, or looks awful, depending on soil conditions in the field, elevations, rest of connections, what’s coming from the house, location in the world, budget…

Is that a sump pump coming for the right and where do you live? How cold does it get although that’s kinda moot these days since the entire US got a freeze. I’d only be concerned about freezing pipes as that doesn’t look very deep. I ran a wire through my gutter and French drain on purpose. I’m also a bit concerned about a lack of a cleanout. Do the gutters run through this? If they do, then you want a cleanout that can allow you to get the stones and other debris from the roof tiles. Usually you do that at the “drop” from the gutter. Although not required. Pipe looks a little small for gutters.

Why’d they use an atrium grate as a reducer for the sump pump line

Looks like that trap only drains at the top, so there’s gonna be quite a bit of free standing water between rains, which screams mosquitos.

Lots of 90s to catch seasonal yard debris.

I don’t think about that drainage system.

I’m trying to learn more about sump pumps and drainage so I can understand the system in the house I’m renting. Can someone please tell me what the different components are here?
The pipe coming from the house is the outflow from their sump pump, right? What are smaller circle outside the fence and the larger part with the grate? Does that pipe just empty directly into the soil? Is the other pipe going to (or coming from?) the front yard?

Just thinking out loud, is there an overflow somewhere up steam? I’m thinking if the drain system is overwhelmed or clogged down steam, would the sump pump up steam back into the house?
