Mr Scutt was “reasonably pleased” with his finish time of 1:00:28 given the poor weather conditions.
He said: “Instead of doing the Watford XC, I ran the (Love) Welwyn 10k.
“Well organised run round the West Side from Stanborough North Lake. Very wet.
“In the circumstances, I was reasonably pleased with my time, 1:00:28.”
The Cancer Research London Winter 10k saw 25,000 participants hit the streets of London.
Garden City Runners were represented in the charity run by Alison Paterson, Penelope Hitch, Brian Robbins, Gail Munro, Delphine Gibbs, Sid Valentine, Caroline, and Vicki.
Penelope Hitch said: “This year’s Cancer Research London Winter 10k (on Sunday morning) was rain, rain, rain all the way but nothing dampened the spirits of the 25,000 participants at this charity run.
“The streets were filled with penguins, huskies, yetis, and polar bears singing and giving out high-5s with plenty of encouragement.
“Many musical groups from steel bands to choirs kept us pounding along the streets which were turning into rivers at some points.
“A fantastic event with a fantastic medal. We will be back next year, hopefully without the rain.”
Nadine and Aiden Dwyer took part in the Zigzag Valentine’s Challenge, facing a formidable course winding through Suffolk.
Ms Dwyer said: “On Saturday, Aiden and I headed back to Suffolk for the Zigzag Valentines Challenge, this time taking on the Mount Barrow route — which, at times, felt more like Mount Everest.

“It’s a relentless rollercoaster with barely a flat stretch in sight: constantly climbing or descending, then turning around to do it all again in reverse.
“My half-marathon elevation clocked in at a punchy 470m (the full marathon was over 750m).
“My hamstring wasn’t happy on the day, so I made the sensible call to stop at the half-marathon, while Aiden carried on and smashed out a full marathon.
“A great event all round, with some runners tackling their very first marathon, while one of our friends from the running circuit celebrated an incredible milestone by completing her 200th marathon.”
In parkrun news, a total of 105 Garden City Runners took part in Valentine’s Day parkruns around the country.
