Gardeners’ World enthusiasts took to social media in excitement after discovering that the beloved gardening programme will be making its comeback to the BBC sooner than expected.
After a three-month break for the show’s traditional winter pause, it was revealed that presenter Monty Don and Longmeadow will be back on screens next month.
This follows the star recently paying tribute to his beloved dog.
The widely-watched television programme has drawn a considerable following of gardening enthusiasts as it offers practical advice on plants, gardens and wildlife, with occasional input from other experts, horticulturists and hobbyist gardeners.
Accompanied by a photograph of Monty with his adorable golden retriever, the announcement read: “Friday 13 March marks the start of our new series, and Ned just can’t wait! Is it a date?”

One eager viewer posted: “Woop woop, can’t wait, ready to get gardening inspiration,”.
Meanwhile, another fan disclosed: “It’s my 6-year-old son’s favourite show. We’ve been rewatching last year’s episodes to get ready!”
With a new series on the horizon, Monty will return to the garden to prepare for Spring after previously carrying out preparations for his plants ahead of what looked set to be a harsh winter, reports the Express.
In the final episode, the 70-year-old lifted and stored his dahlias, created leafmoulds, and potted up his tulips and wallflowers.
He also took root cuttings from one of his cherished herbaceous perennials.

This comes after the gardening guru revealed he’d been forced away from his normal pruning schedule due to changing weather patterns, noting that jobs usually done in January are now appearing in December.
In his BBC Gardeners’ World column, Monty wrote: “I found myself not doing it, because January was still a week or so away. ‘Ha!’, you might say, ‘the man is a rule-bound idiot tied to an absurdly rigid horticultural calendar.'”.
“You would not be far wrong, but I suspect we have all learned that certain jobs should be done at certain times.”
Whilst the BBC hasn’t yet revealed what the upcoming episode will include, it could echo last year’s spring comeback, when Monty planted up pots for early colour, showed how to move a clematis, and sowed vegetables for the year ahead.
Gardeners’ World is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
