  1. My last frost date is May 15th. However we have so much snow on the ground with single digit numbers that I think this snow is here until April!

  2. I’m so anxious for spring!🌱 Can we start things (lettuce, brassicas, etc) even earlier if we’ll be using frost covers?

  3. Thanks for the video but you got me confused about a few seed start times. For example, I have zinnias seeds from two different companies and both say to start them 6-8 before last frost. But you are saying 10-12 weeks. There were a few other seeds you mentioned that were starting earlier than the packaging recommends. I’m confused.

  4. Many thanks for presenting this in a common sense way. Now, rather than just looking at each seed packet and counting back days on my calendar, I know WHY I should start WHICH plants and WHEN. Thank you for this!

  5. Wall of waters are awesome. I use them and get awesome tomatoes. They also harden off the plant so you don't have to do the daily shuffle and just plant them right from inside to outside. I have 2 ft tall plants when others are just putting in transplants.

  6. We have frost until May 15 but we really can plant anything out side until May 30 it so short our summer north of Barrie Ontario .

  7. I realize people do not want to disclose what state they are in a lot of times on YouTube but so thankful to see you're talking about zones. I am in 6B.

  8. I have been eye balling those cozy coats for a few years, may actually give it a try this year. Usually I plant close to 40 tomato plants so I have a little space to test on some plants 😊😊😊

  9. where in the world are you in zone six with that early frost date . ours is may25 in sw colorado. two years ago we went from frost to 100 in the garden in just over two weeks. most wont plant here untill june we get tomatoes in very late aug but usually in sept.

  10. I didnt realize you can transplant zinnias, I always direct sowed . We're in zone 7 last frost date about April 21st or so.( Va) just started petunias, snapdragons, basil and all our pepper's.
This year though, with the winter we've had , I think I'll wait til May to put out warm season stuff.

  11. I have had much more success growing the double flowered zinnias in north ogden up on the bench direct sowing. When I would start them inside they would grow much more of the single flowered types. Does anyone else notice this?

  12. Zinnias and cosmos grow very quickly in my experience. I would not start them indoors before mid to late March or they will get too tall and leggy.

  13. I have always wondered – for marigolds and alyssum being pest deterrents and attractors – how mature do they need to be to be 'functioning'. when they go out? My last frost is May 30th. So how do I work backwards (particularly with marigolds). How mature should the plant be going out on my last frost?

  14. I disagree for the early tomatoes. If the soil is still cold they won't grow .It isn't the tops that are so much affected by cool temps as the roots. Notice he's pushing a product for you to use for this info. No gardener should do that. I'm un subing. I'm in zone 6a master gardener here and this is shameful. WAIT ON YOUR WARM SEASON CROPS it does not make them produce faster to start them early they'll just sit there till the soil warms up.

  15. I’m in 6B in Indiana, Parsley is another seed that needs to be started early. We used to have the wall of water for our tomato plants, but over time they would leak and we didn’t replace them. They are great to protect against a freak late frost. I would also start cherry tomatoes or patio tomatoes a couple of weeks before my regular tomatoes.
