The event, a seed swap festival, was organised by Green Shelter Society UK along with the Bangladeshi Gardeners Society and was held at the Punjabi Community Centre.
The Green Shelter Society UK is a charity dedicated to promoting the social and environmental benefits of growing food and sustainable gardening.
The concept behind the seed swap is both straightforward and impactful.
The aim is to encourage participants to bring seeds from their gardens and exchange them with others, fostering the cultivation of new plants while encouraging zero waste and the exchange of gardening tips.
Cllr Jake Chandler, alongside other local figures such as Cllr Suresh Gattapur and Bhagyesh Soni, took part in the seed swap event.
After the event, Cllr Chandler expressed appreciation for the organisers, community engagement, and sharing of gardening tips among enthusiasts.
Additionally, attendees enjoyed a variety of activities, including support from local businesses, music, and face painting.
The Mayor of Swindon, Cllr Faye Howard, also attended the event, showing her support alongside fellow councillors like Deputy Leader Emma Bushell.
The seed swap festival, which aimed to create connections over shared gardening interests, was praised for its attendance and involvement from young people.
