  1. This gives me hope. We moved into a house this past summer with compacted clay dirt. We made a gardening bed this past weekend and it added gypsum…along with compost, topsoils, etc. I’m trying to get things done before the heat moves in (Savannah, ga).

  2. I always put 1tsp of cinnamon and a dash of nutmeg in my banana bread. I think bananas and cinnamon go so well together!

  3. I'm a banana muffins a couple weeks ago and gave them to my kids and my son said, I love the things that you make reminds me of when I was little today.Prefer the muffins more than they do the bread.I put five bananas in mine , and it's really enjoyed

  4. Question. Recipe says 1/3 c shortening when you showed it—but not mentioned or added. Was it changed over time?
    Excited to try!

  5. I agree with Benjamin, cooking is similar to gardening…I enjoy all your videos. I would love to see a series on your home remodel as well!

  6. Your recipe is similar to our family's except we add chopped pecans. Yummo. (We are in Texas and put pecans in everything)

  7. So cute Benjamin is ..💕made we cry. I miss my mom so much. She taught us so much. She was a fabulous mother and cook. So thankful we were blessed to have wonderful parents.Take care enjoy those little ones 🥰

  8. I started buying no salt butter after watching Martha Stewart recommended using no salt butter because don't need all that extra hidden salt in your food prep. Most recipes call for salt. IF a person has high blood pressure the doctor recommends to cut your salt intake. Tomatoes have a high salt content naturally. Lots of other reasons when you get in middle and older age begin to retaining water for some unknown reason. Just like starting to use gloves. I never used gloves either until a neighbor was helping me said to get some gloves and use them. We were cutting down trees out of our combined chain link fence.

  9. Just an FYI; a lot of people have health issues that necessitate using unsalted butter. Heart health, kidney function, etc.

  10. Laura is past her prime and she didn’t even know it!! Apparently Laura, you are so old on this date that future Benjamin can’t conceive of you being around when he makes banana bread for his children. For all intents and purposes you’re going to skip grandmotherhood altogether. 😂 I laughed so long and hard about that. So cute! The thought processes a little kids are so amusing.😂😂😂😂😂

  11. Loved your baking bread!! It's so homey. The part of me knowing you for so many years is I just love to be a part of the family. I have learned so much from you. I struggle with a disease, common variable Immune deficiency. I also have Multiple myeloma ( non curable). My last few years have been pretty rough. I get through it watching you. Thankyou❤❤❤

  12. Oh Laura ❤️❤️❤️. If you’d send this to the printer and make it into a book collections of recipes- complete with your handwritten notes and all.. I’d buy it.. This is tried and tested recipes and well loved . Thank you for sharing .

  14. Ordered gypsum and made the banana bread (added cream cheese frosting). Grandsons sold out on your recipe. 😉 and loved your rexipe journal. Want! ❤ always inspired. Thank you.

  15. I have a few recipes that call for unsalted butter but I haven’t tried using salted to see if it makes a difference. I have been making chocolate chip cookie recipe that makes 5 dozen cookies and it calls for a 1/2 tsp of water. In 55 years I have never left this out but I always wonder how much difference does it make. Lol❤❤

  16. I have my grandmothers banana bread recipe in my hand writing when I was about 11 or 12 and I can hardly read it anymore because it’s been used so much. I always put walnuts and raisins in mine….
