Coffee and Connect at Trivia House in Swanlinbar. Ladies from both sides of the Border in the Swanlinbar area assemble in the Cuilcagh Café in Trivia House every Tuesday night for crafting, chats and coffee and a night out in a relaxed ambience. When the Celt called last Tuesday evening, the ladies were knitting bags to hold syringe driver bags for palliative care patients who are on morphine syringe pumps. Prior to this they knitted little hats for premature babies in the Neo Natal Unit in Drogheda. They also made St Brigid’s Crosses and Christmas Wreaths. “This new meeting room and kitchen is worthy of the people who come here. It is a haven and a safe place for people to assemble and they are now our community. The amount of support we received for this project has been overwhelming,” said Paul Lynch at the official opening of the facility last Thursday morning.
He especially thanked Cavan Credit Union and Cavan County Council for their wonderful interest in the project from the outset some 18 months ago.
“The staff of the Credit Union came up to see on the ground what was happening here. They saw the children planting flowers; they encountered they enthusiasm of the women’s groups and the Rehab groups in this unique setting. Cavan CU partnered with us to help fund this project,” added Mr Lynch.
He also thanked other sponsors such as McDonalds, Mels’ Signs and Hybrid Energy.
Mr Lynch gave a special mention to Brun Malinoeskis from Cosy Cabins on the Ballinagh Road for all his help in tailoring the building to suit their requirements.
“We also received help with the electrics, the plumbing and the superb community workers built the foundation for this building with the guidance of Ciaran Gray from the ETB,” he continued.
“This building will be a hive of activity during the summer,” anticipated a delighted Mr Lynch.
