For many people across the nation, it’s really cold right now. Colder than usual, even. In New York City, the wind chill has regularly made the temperature feel like below zero in the last few weeks, which is simply just not something I’m used to dealing with. The good news is that spring is around the corner, bringing with it warmer temperatures, later sunsets, and flourishing plants.

If you have a green thumb or even just a couple of houseplants, IKEA has a new collection of cute, useful, and affordable gardening tools to help make this spring truly blossom. (And if you’re an indoor gardener or blessed with nice weather in February, you won’t even have to wait to use them.)

You don’t have to be growing tomatoes to use this tomato-red spray bottle, which holds 12 ounces of liquid and has a narrow, slender shape that’s easy to grip. Use it to give a little moisture to your plants, or even to clean your house.

Some plants are very tender and sensitive, while others have all sorts of leaves, stems, petals, and fruit to sort through. These small, lightweight metal scissors will help you attend to anything that needs snipping or pruning without any mishaps.

Whether you’re new to the world of gardening or a total pro, it’s always nice to get some new tools. In this set, you get a stainless steel trowel and hand cultivator with wooden handles and hooks for easy hanging. If you have kids or smaller hands, there’s also a smaller version of this set that comes in mint green instead of steel.

For the jobs that require more heft than IKEA’s smaller scissors can provide, there’s this pair of red pruning shears. Although the blade packs more of a punch, these shears are still easy to hold and control, and the dark red hue will be easy to spot from afar.

Of course, not everyone has access to a garden. If you’re more of a houseplant person, consider these hand-blown glass bulb watering inserts, which deliver a steady drip of water when stuck into a plant pot. They’re great for forgetful folks or frequent travelers — and even if you’re neither, the colorful glass is undeniably nice to look at.

I don’t know about you, but I fiercely procrastinate on repotting my plants, largely because I don’t have a good outdoor space to do it in, and getting soil all over my house doesn’t sound like fun. This handy (and cheerfully patterned) potting mat takes care of that by providing a space to do your messy work — and when you’re done, you can easily rinse it off and fold it up for later.

With its pink and yellow color scheme and floral shapes, this playful two-pack of trellises absolutely screams springtime. They can be used indoors or outdoors to give your vines and leaves support and help coax them in the right direction. Even if your plants haven’t sprouted yet, a trellis or two should still be an attractive addition to your windowsill or yard.

If you’re new to the world of plants or just have a small living space, this starter set gives you everything you need to grow four little plants. You get a growing tray with a protective dome (which helps keep your saplings warm), four pots, and four mini trellises, so all you need are seeds and water to get started.

When you need to move some soil, you usually use a shovel (or, for the more DIY-inclined, a cup). However, the width of a shovel or space doesn’t always allow for neat soil distribution — especially with smaller potted plants. This cute soil scoop from IKEA, which almost looks like a bright-green fast-food french fry container, should neatly get the job done.
