I purchased this fiddle leaf fig from a neighbor who was moving. I have let her settle in this spot (typically brighter sunny spot – it’s raining outside today). Basically I’m wondering if I should leave her as is? Or chop and prop? I’m newer to fiddles and don’t want to kill it

Can you post a close up showing the soil and the base of the tree? If the soil seems like it’s in good shape and still gets wet, but drains quickly, it might not need repotting urgently.

Personally I’d let it sit for a month or two. Then once it starts growing again, I’d do a really hard prune and do a full repot. Short term, water it very deeply, then don’t water it again until the top layer of soil is nice and dry again.

The spot it’s in looks good, but you should really consider opening the blinds during the day at least. They really like light. I do like how each branch basically has it’s own window though!

Do you keep the blinds like this during the day? If yes you’ll need a plant light.

These plants come from the continent of Africa and need an incredible amount of light especially as they get bigger.

The blinds are kept like this during the day. Usually the room has a lot more light. When I took the photo it’s toward the evening and a rainy cloudy day. I can get another plant light if needed. I use a few of the sansi lights and they are worth it in my opinion.

I think it does need a repot? The soil does drain fast, but the upper part of the roots are bare-ish. I can take a photo when I get home. I was trying to hold off until closer to spring. I heard it isn’t great to try to repot it in the winter, but I don’t know if that is even true.
