I’m not saying this in a mean way but why live in Florida if you hate the environment there so much? I live in Australia and snakes, insects, small animals, etc are just part of daily life. Granted, I don’t want them in my house but they’re a part of the ecosystem and they were all here long before me 🧡
Girl salt, vinegar and dawn dish soap have it prepared and next to you. Spray once a week while you are hanging outside. I do it twice a week because I’m always outside
Sadly, bugs will always be a part of our lives in the southern gulf states, no matter what we try…those critters just find a way. I am loving your journey and your ingenuity to find the best insect free path for you and your home. Every 3 or 4 years, a bug find its way into my home. Usually during great heat or after a lot of rain.
Nothing will stop the roaches 😢😢 but yes all these little things will reduce their impact! My home was tiled from ceiling to floor, my outside was patio and tiles everywhere, walls, floor, nothing stopped them. We had to cover all vents, had nets blinds on all windows, all plugholes covered when not in use…it was exhausting! But it was better than when we first moved in.
What you want is mill fabric. Not like Florida has a ton of paper mills but if you do know one, get your hands on some dryer clothing (also called felts) it's thick, designed to drain water but makes an excellent weed barrier.
I recommend cardboard boxes as weed barrier! They are thick but will still allow drainage over time (like a good amount of time) they will degrade away but they will get the job done well and they’re good for your yard
Flying Roaches = Palmetto Bugs Keep trees, shrubs away from your yard. Know thy neighbors and self cleanliness. Standing water produces a mosquito and water moccasin infestation. Dwarf palmetto bushes are well loved by rattlesnakes. ❤ from a Floridian 😊
This woman is terrified of nature and everything green it seems. You can have a beautiful green yard and not have a lot of bugs. If this woman had green grass and trees the birds would take care of a lot of the problem and keep the yard clean. I don't understand why this woman even wants a yard. 😮

You definitely don't want a swamp, water breeds flies and mosquitoes 😤 ❤
Put a permeable fabric your going to have so many weeds by poking holes in it trust me my fire pit lasted 1 season before it was full of weeds.
You dont want to spray weed kill on something youll be using regularly.

I get not wanting a swamp in your backyard but I think poking holes in your weed barrier kinda defeats the purpose.

I have that weed stop. I never had any problems with the training the holes will let weeds in. I’m sorry.

Speeking from experience, those holes will let the weeds through in no time. That was a waste of money, I'm sorry.🫣

If your neighbors have… Sadly they travel over
Use mosquito pods to prevent flying bitters.

We do the same
No matter what you put down, seeds will find a way to rest on top and grow to weeds.
