Wisteria has latched onto our pines. We reached out to the neighbor (different HOA) and no response.

Yes, we can trim on our side but it will still attach itself to our trees. It’s also ruining the shared fence. We like our privacy but is it easier just to cut them down to a bush (if that’s a thing) or remove them completely? This would be the last resort. We don’t want to harm our trees 😔.

We wanted a low maintenance yard and this Wisteria is proving otherwise. We want to do something quickly while it is still dormant.

Any thoughts? Thank you.

You should be able to do the cut/paint method for wistera. Cut it back and paint the fresh cuts with an herbicide, the plant will take it up through the fresh cut and should kill it. Since youre only applying it to the fresh cut, it won’t affect anything around it.

The further back you cut it, the more effective.
