Finally completed our 14’x10’ custom BC Greenhouse build! This project took about six months from idea to completion. This is the 6mm glass version, with shutters, exhaust fan and 45btu gas heater. We poured a thickened edge slab that was 20” deep on the sides and threw up a 28” foundation CMU wall with real stone veneer on it (and built a matching planter with the extra materials). I installed 220v for grow lights to help with light during our winter months (we’re in Western Washington) as well. The string lights are temporary maybe until we figure out what general use lighting we want, and I still have to attach the loose conduit to the aluminum structure.

We are gonna set up a make shift station for now to get our seeds started for the season, but I am looking for recommendations on how to organize this greenhouse and what our final layout should be. Can’t seem to wrap my head around the final setup that would best use the space. Our goal is to grow food year round if possible as well as throw in some fun stuff. We have a large garden as well as a lot of fruit trees on our property – we’d really like to focus on producing as much as possible for our family.

Feel free to ask me any questions about our experience or the process and I’ll do my best to answer!

    Love it.

    Should have went bigger.

    No insulation under the slab?

My first greenhouse was a prefab kit but now I want to build a custom one that can accommodate seating for those gloomy winter days.

    Love the stone wall.

  2. The block wall veneered is something I’m considering too. Mine will be standalone out in the garden but yours is affirmation of the look I want.

Do you have any kind of floor drainage?  It just expecting the concrete to soak it up and release it?

Beautiful build out! We completed our BC Greenhouse in September and we LOVE it. Now I don’t have to turn my dining room into a citrus tree farm ever winter!
