A plant-tastic event giving you a head start on spring gardening
The Bellevue Public Library has a series of gardening classes for those who are looking to prepare for spring planting.
AMENDMENT. A 35 YEAR TIME. NOW, THIS WARM WEATHER MAY HAVE YOU THINKING ABOUT SPRING GARDENING. IF YOU’RE LOOKING TO LEARN A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT WHAT TO PLANT, YOU MIGHT WANT TO CHECK OUT THE BELLEVUE PUBLIC LIBRARY. THAT’S WHERE WE FIND KETV NEWSWATCH SEVEN’S MARY REGLI. SHE’S LIVE TELLING US ABOUT A SPECIAL CLASS THERE. THIS AFTERNOON. GOOD MORNING MARY. GOOD MORNING ANNA. YES, THEY HAVE A SERIES OF CLASSES ON NATIVE PLANTS WITH ALL KINDS OF DIFFERENT TOPICS. IN THIS MORNING’S TOPIC IS HOW TO ATTRACT MONARCH BUTTERFLIES. AND JOINING ME TODAY IS VICTORIA BOGART’S. SHE IS NEBRASKA’S YOUTH POET LAUREATE. CAN YOU TELL ME A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT HOW YOU GOT INVOLVED WITH THIS EVENT? OH YEAH. SO AS YOUTH POET LAUREATE, I GET THE RESOURCES TO CREATE A CIVIC ENGAGEMENT PROJECT OF MY CHOOSING. AND I’M VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT. AND I WANTED TO GIVE PEOPLE A SIMPLE WAY TO BECOME INVOLVED IN THE ENVIRONMENT. AND I THOUGHT, WHAT BETTER WAY THAN GARDENING AND NATIVE PLANTS? BECAUSE THAT’S SOMETHING ALMOST ANYONE CAN GET INVOLVED WITH. OKAY. AND WHY DID YOU THINK IT WAS SO IMPORTANT TO COORDINATE AN EVENT LIKE THIS? WELL, I THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE PROBABLY INTERESTED IN NATIVE GARDENING OR JUST HELPING THE ENVIRONMENT IN GENERAL, BUT MAYBE DON’T KNOW WHERE TO START. SO I WANTED TO CREATE THIS SERIES TO BRING IN EXPERTS THAT PEOPLE CAN HEAR FROM, AND JUST GET REAL LIFE TIPS ON HOW THEY CAN GET INVOLVED WITH THIS. OKAY. AND WHO DO YOU THINK SHOULD ATTEND THIS EVENT HERE TODAY? I THINK ANYONE WHO’S INTERESTED IN HELPING THE ENVIRONMENT, GETTING MORE INVOLVED WITH GARDENING, HELPING PRESERVE POLLINATORS, IF YOU’RE INTERESTED IN ANY OF THOSE TOPICS, I’D RECOMMEND COMING BECAUSE I THINK IT WILL BE VERY INFORMATIVE AND THEY’LL BE GREAT SPEAKERS AND GREAT COMMUNITY. SO OKAY, WONDERFUL. THANK YOU SO MUCH, VICTORIA. AND IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND, IT IS FREE. IT’S ALL STARTING AT 1 P.M. HERE TODA
