The Central Ohio Home & Garden Show is featuring a “Celebrate America” theme for its 2026 event.Community members were invited to decorate birdhouses with patriotic designs for display at the show.Following the event, the decorated birdhouses will be donated to Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks.

The Central Ohio Home & Garden Show is extending the home show spirit to feathered friends in 2026.

With the theme of “Celebrate America,” the show invited the community to be part of the celebration through decorating birdhouses to be featured as part of the patriotic display.

The show will then donate the birdhouses to Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks to bring the local art into the community.

Participants received free admission to the show to be able to see their creations on display.

Aligned with the America 250 celebration in 2026, the Central Ohio Home & Garden Show selected the theme and decided to launch the interactive element to get the community involved, event director Stephen Buzza said.

On display in the Celeste Center of the Ohio Expo Center, the show anticipated to collect as many as 120 birdhouses, Buzza said.

“If the guests are happy, we are happy,” he said. “The show’s been around a long time. People have expectations. Plus, I have to integrate new things into the show, which I think we’re doing a really great job this year.”

Growing new ideas at the 2026 show

Giving a teaser of other new elements to expect, Buzza said the show commissioned Laura Dowling, the former White House chief floral designer under the Obama administration, to design the front entrance display.

All submitted birdhouses will be displayed at the Central Ohio Home & Garden Show from Feb. 14–22 in the Celeste Center.

With guidelines to pursue “red, white and blue” designs or tributes supporting U.S. military branches, the birdhouse decorators were encouraged to be creative, family-friendly and showcase “American spirit.”

Ready to house birds at area metro parks, the birdhouses were required to include ventilation and drainage holes.
