they produced fruit last summer, but very few, and very small. They're delicious, though. I'd love to keep them.

  1. Id keep them but plant replacements for when they do decide to go. Apples can produce for awhile like this

    Every apple tree is different. The good apples at the store are basically pure luck. The seeds from those apples won’t produce another tree with good apples. The good trees have to be grafted in order to make more good trees.

    Your tree has small apples that taste good. You might consider pruning it so that it produces more fruit. You should do some research before you do that though.

    Those look pretty toast but they can survive for a while looking like that. Keep them around if they aren’t a hazard but I would also plant their replacement so it’s producing by the time these ones kick the bucket

    Your trees can be propagated from cuttings to start new trees with the exact same fruit. If you would like to do that, try to find a local consulting arborist who specializes in fruit trees. Your county agricultural extension agent should be able to refer you.

    The fruit likely are so small because the trees are in severe decline.
