I’m asking for help identifying this weed and advice on what to do.
About a month ago I planted a Bermuda sod lawn. Previously the area was overgrown with weeds, and I thought pulling them out by the roots would be enough. However, about a week after installing the sod, these weeds started pushing through in many areas. In some spots there are a lot of them, and I feel like they’re negatively affecting the Bermuda’s growth.
Right now I’m pulling them out once or twice a week, but they grow back almost immediately. Half of the lawn is already about a month old, but the Bermuda has only partially established and is barely growing in height. In some areas the weeds were so dense and aggressive that they actually lifted pieces of the sod before it could root properly, which caused those sections to dry out. The bare spots are either not filling in at all or doing so very slowly.
I’m not rushing to use fertilizers or herbicides yet. Maybe someone has dealt with a similar situation and can suggest the correct sequence of actions.
I’m located in the tropics (Philippines).
