Today, the Garden State Equality Action Fund is proud to offer our endorsement of Analilia Mejìa for special election in Congressional District 11, the same seat that had been held by our Governor and staunch ally, Mikie Sherrill.
It’s fitting then, that at this moment, New Jersey’s diverse and expansive 11th Congressional District demands and receives a representative equally as committed to protecting and uplifting our community. Garden State Equality has full confidence that Mejìa is poised to take on this challenge.
“In a time of dangerous and insidious attacks on LGBTQ+ people, Analilia is the fighter we need to stand up to Trump and his weaponized courts,” said Garden State Equality Action Fund Chair Jeannine Frisby LaRue. “Addressing this inequity in her campaign platform, Analilia unequivocally stated, ‘Politicians are using trans people as punching bags to score cheap political points, with many states attacking trans people’s fundamental freedoms. That has to stop. I will fight for full equality for LGBTQ+ Americans, including access to essential healthcare and comprehensive anti-discrimination protections. Everyone deserves dignity, respect, and freedom to be who they are.”
