LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Professional bull riding returns to Rupp Arena this weekend as part of the sport’s fastest-growing tour.
The Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour is making stops across the United States. Last year, the tour drew more than 370,000 fans nationwide.
Top riders will compete Saturday at 7 p.m. for the event title.
Local theater marks Black History Month
Woodford Theatre is presenting “The Mountaintop” to mark Black History Month. The play reimagines the final night of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life.
The production begins after King delivers one of his most iconic speeches. As a storm hits Memphis, he retreats to his hotel room at the Lorraine Motel. A mysterious stranger then knocks on his door, leading to an encounter that forces the civil rights leader to face his own legacy.
Shows run Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. for the next two weekends.
Children’s theater presents classic tale
The Lexington Children’s Theatre is staging “The Secret Garden” this weekend. The production follows an orphan and her ill cousin as they discover a hidden, magical garden and learn to heal themselves and each other.
The show is designed for children ages 8 to 12. Performances are Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. Children’s tickets cost $17.
