Gardeners of all experience levels can learn from the Lake County Master Gardeners during a pair of free programs this March at Mentor Public Library.
First, the Master Gardeners will lead a Lawn Care Calendar program at 6:30 p.m. March 2, at the Lake Branch, 5642 Andrews Road in Mentor-on-the-Lake. Those who attend will receive month-by-month guidelines for proper lawn care during the growing season in Northeast Ohio, according to a news release.
Then, the master gardeners will offer advice on seed starting during its monthly Meet Us in the Garden lecture at 10 a.m. March 7 at the library’s Main Branch, 8215 Mentor Ave. Attendees can learn best tactics for growing vegetables and flowers from seeds.
Both programs are free to attend, but due to limited space, registration is required. Sign up at www.mentorpl.org or by calling the library at 440-255-8811.
For those interested in gardening, Mentor Public Library also has a Seed Library. Patrons can check out free vegetable, flower, fruit and herb seeds from the library’s Main, Lake, and Headlands branches. The seeds are free, and patrons can borrow up to 15 packets per season.
