A couple have accused council bosses of being “petty” after being ordered to remove a garden fence that is just 78cm too tall in Hallow, Worcestershire, UK. Ian and Bethany Buswell installed the 5.8ft fence to keep their autistic six-year-old son safe after replacing a much taller hedge previously flagged as a safety issue. Malvern Hills District Council rejected a planning application and two appeals, saying the fence harms the village’s character despite similar fences nearby. The family say tearing it down would undermine safety for their child and pedestrians, while the council said it cannot comment further due to an ongoing enforcement investigation.
